Carpet & Flooring Removal

Pulling carpet is the easy half. Getting a house worth of soaked padding, tack strip, and broken tile out to a truck is the half that ruins a weekend. ClearPath tears out and hauls flooring across the Kansas City metro and Northland — carpet, padding, laminate, vinyl, tile, and hardwood — and leaves the subfloor swept and ready for whatever goes down next.

What's Included

Carpet and padding cut and rolled, tack strip pulled, staples cleared, laminate and engineered floating floors lifted, sheet vinyl and vinyl plank pulled, ceramic and porcelain tile broken out with the backer board, and hardwood pulled where it's coming out rather than being refinished. Everything goes in the truck and the subfloor gets swept. Pet-damaged carpet and padding from a water event are both regular work — unpleasant, and not a reason to charge you more for the surprise.

Who This Service Is For

Homeowners doing a floor replacement, landlords turning a unit after a bad tenant, flippers and investors gutting a property, and anyone dealing with the aftermath of a burst pipe or a sump pump failure. If the flooring is part of a bigger tear-out, see construction and remodel debris removal; if the job runs over weeks rather than a day, a dumpster rental on site is usually the cheaper answer.

Flat-Rate Pricing, Confirmed Up Front

Every ClearPath job is quoted as a flat rate before anyone lifts a thing. Text photos or call and you'll usually have a number within minutes. What we agree to is what you pay — no hourly meter, no add-ons at the end, and no charge for the quote itself. We're locally owned and insured, and the person who answers the phone is the person who shows up.

Responsible Cleanup

Tile and concrete-backed materials go as construction debris. Metal tack strip and transition strips are recycled. Carpet and padding are difficult materials to recycle and mostly aren't, which is worth being honest about rather than dressing up — what we can control is that everything else in the load gets sorted properly. Older homes may have flooring or adhesive containing asbestos; if that's a possibility, get it tested before anyone disturbs it, including us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pull the tack strip and staples too?

Yes. That's the part people underestimate. Carpet comes up in ten minutes; the tack strip and a few thousand staples are the actual job, and they're included.

Can you do tile?

Yes. Ceramic and porcelain tile with the backer board underneath comes out, though it's slower and heavier than carpet and the quote reflects that. Tile set directly into a mortar bed on an older home is the hardest case and we'll look at it before quoting.

The carpet is soaked and it smells. Still fine?

Yes, and it's common. Water-damaged and pet-damaged carpet is regular work for us. If the subfloor itself is saturated or there's active mold on the structure, that needs a remediation contractor and we'll tell you so rather than covering it up.

What about asbestos in old vinyl tile?

Nine-inch vinyl tile and the black mastic under it in pre-1980s homes can contain asbestos. We won't disturb it, and neither should you — get it tested, and if it's positive it needs a licensed abatement contractor. Once that's handled we're glad to take the rest.
