The tank itself, plus the old stand, the drip pan, the venting, and the boxes the new unit came in. We take it out of wherever it's sitting — basements and stairwells are the usual case — and protect the floor and doorframes on the way. If it still has water in it, tell us; a drained tank is far easier and far less likely to leave a trail, and we'd rather know before we tip it.

Do you disconnect it?
No. We haul, we don't do plumbing or gas work. The unit needs to be fully disconnected from the gas or electric and the water lines before we arrive — if it isn't, we'll have to reschedule, and neither of us wants that. Any plumber can do it in a few minutes.
It's in the basement. Can you get it up the stairs?
Yes. That's the usual case and it's why people call. A drained tank comes up on a dolly with two people. Narrow stairs and tight turns are normal for us.
Do I need to drain it first?
It helps a lot, and if you can, do. A full forty-gallon tank holds over three hundred pounds of water. If you can't drain it, say so when you book so we come prepared rather than discovering it on your basement floor.
Can you take the old furnace or AC unit too?
Yes, and it's usually the same trip. Furnaces, condensers, boilers, and softeners are all metal and all recyclable. Sealed refrigerant units may need certified recovery first — we'll tell you if that applies.
