Refrigerator removal step by step in Kansas City Junk removal.

Refrigerator Removal

ClearPath Junk Removal removes old and unwanted refrigerators for homeowners, renters, landlords, property managers, and businesses across the Kansas City metro and Northland. A refrigerator is heavy, awkward, and difficult to move through a doorway without the right equipment. Todd provides a clear flat-rate quote before the crew lifts anything.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We remove standard refrigerators, side-by-sides, French-door models, compact units, commercial coolers, and related freezer sections when accessible. The crew plans around stairs, tight hallways, narrow gates, and finished floors; carries the appliance out safely, loads it, and sweeps the pickup area. Tell us if the unit is built in, on an upper floor, or still connected so we can arrive prepared. Same-day or next-day appointments may be available.

A CAREFUL, RESPONSIBLE PROCESS

We disconnect appliances only when safely accessible and do not cut lines or alter plumbing or electrical connections. Refrigerant-containing appliances are taken through appropriate disposal and recycling channels. Metal, wiring, and usable components are separated whenever practical rather than sent straight to a landfill.

WHO THIS SERVICE IS FOR

Refrigerator removal is useful after an upgrade, kitchen remodel, move, rental turnover, estate cleanout, or business replacement. One appliance is welcome, and we can combine it with other household junk for an efficient load. Quotes cover the labor, truck space, and disposal—not surprise hourly charges.

What's Included

We take the doors off when the opening calls for it, strap the unit to a stair dolly and walk it out without gouging your trim. A standard side-by-side is roughly 300 pounds empty and considerably more awkward than that number suggests, which is why this is a two-person job. Garage and basement fridges are our most common call — the ones that have been running on a dedicated outlet for a decade holding four drinks and a bag of ice. Those usually come up a flight of stairs, and we plan the route before we lift anything.

Who This Service Is For

Anyone who just had a new fridge delivered and discovered the retailer would only take one unit. Landlords clearing a rental. Families cleaning out a parent's house where there are two or three fridges scattered between the kitchen, the basement and the garage. Realtors who need a garage emptied before photos. If the old unit is still plugged in and half full, that is fine — say so when you call and we will bring what we need to deal with it.

Flat-Rate Pricing, Confirmed Up Front

Flat rate, quoted before we start, covering labor, the stairs, the drive and the disposal. Refrigerant recovery is part of the price rather than a surprise line at the end. Text a photo of the fridge and the path it has to travel — a doorway width or a stairwell photo tells us more than a description does.

Responsible Cleanup

A refrigerator is one of the more regulated things in your house. The refrigerant in the sealed system has to be recovered by a certified technician before the steel can be scrapped, so we route units to a yard set up to do exactly that. The cabinet, compressor and coils are then recycled as metal. Working units in decent shape get offered for reuse first. We also pull the doors off anything being stored or staged, which is a safety habit worth keeping in mind if a fridge is going to sit in a garage for a few days before pickup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need to be emptied and defrosted first?

Empty it if you can — food, shelves and drawers add weight and slosh. Defrosting is not required, but a freezer full of ice will drip on the way out, so we wrap the base. If the unit has been off for a while and there is spoiled food in it, tell us on the phone. It changes how we handle it and we would rather know.

Can you get it out of a finished basement?

Usually yes. Tight turns at the bottom of a stairwell are the limiting factor, not the weight. Send a photo of the stairs and we will tell you honestly before we drive out.

Do you take mini fridges and wine coolers?

Yes, and the same refrigerant rules apply to them. Small does not mean it can go to the curb.
