What We Can't Take — and Where It Goes
Every hauler has this list. Most don't publish it, which is how people end up with a truck in the driveway and a surprise. Here's ours up front, with the actual answer for each one.
Paint, solvents, and chemicals
Wet paint, thinners, pesticides, herbicides, and pool chemicals need your county's household hazardous waste drop-off. Dried-out latex paint cans are usually fine — ask us.
Fuel, oil, and automotive fluids
Gas cans, motor oil, antifreeze, and transmission fluid all need a proper collection site. Most auto parts stores take used oil free.
Propane tanks and pressurized cylinders
Grill tanks, camping cylinders, and any pressurized vessel. Most propane dealers will take them back.
Asbestos and lead paint
Older flooring, mastic, pipe wrap, and siding can contain asbestos; pre-1978 trim can carry lead paint. Get it tested, and if it’s positive it needs a licensed abatement contractor. We won’t disturb it.
Biohazard material
Human or animal waste, sharps, and active mold on the structure need a licensed remediation crew, not a hauling company. We'll say so and help you find one.
Medical waste and ammunition
Sharps containers, prescription medication, and live ammunition all have their own disposal routes. Your local police department usually handles ammunition.
Titled vehicles
Cars, trucks, and anything else with a title needs a licensed salvage buyer. Untitled trailers, implements, and equipment are fine.
Set anything on this list aside before we arrive and we'll take everything around it. Ask when you book and we'll tell you the closest drop-off for whatever's left.
Common Questions
Is there anything you won’t take?
A short list, and it's all material that needs a licensed route rather than a truck: wet paint and chemicals, fuel and automotive fluids, propane tanks, asbestos, biohazard material, medical waste, live ammunition, and titled vehicles. Everything else is fair game. If you're not sure, send a photo and we'll tell you before you have to guess.
Do I have to sort or bag anything first?
No. Sorting is part of what you're paying for. Point at what goes and we handle the rest, including separating out metal for recycling and setting aside anything usable for donation.
What if I only have one item?
That's fine, and it's a lot of what we do. Single-item pickups closer to our base in Lathrop are easy; further out we may pair it with another job in the area. Either way you get a flat price before we roll.
How is the price figured?
By volume and weight, quoted as a flat rate before anyone lifts anything. Text photos or call and you’ll usually have a number in minutes. What we agree to is what you pay — no hourly meter and no add-ons at the end.
What happens to it after you take it?
Usable furniture and household goods go to a local nonprofit first. Metal, appliances, and electronics get recycled. Clean brush goes to compost or mulch. The landfill is the last stop, not the first.
